Fostering Connections and Conservation – Leading International Linkages Volunteer Activities

By Hazel Lin, International Linkages Volunteer Activities Leader

As Activities Leader for the International Linkages Volunteers, I organized events that bridged cultural gaps and promoted environmental awareness. These initiatives fostered connections between local and international students through shared values and experiences.

Key Activities

  1. Cultural Sharing Events

We hosted cultural sessions where students celebrated national holidays, shared customs, and explored diverse traditions, creating a welcoming space and enriching cultural understanding.

  2. Youth English & Cross-Cultural Exchange

By organizing English and cultural workshops in native villages, we helped youth practice language skills and gain insights into various cultures, supporting both educational and cultural development.

  3. Beach Clean-Up for Environmental Conservation

To promote environmental stewardship, we organized beach clean-ups uniting local and international students, highlighting the importance of protecting natural spaces through hands-on activities.

  4. Being international exchange student’s buddy

Helping them the daily problem and help them communicate with uni and searching for apartments. This not only building up my future networking for my own exchange experiences, but also enhancing the soft skills on problem solving and communication skill.

Reflection

Leading these activities enhanced my appreciation for cultural diversity and environmental responsibility, reminding me of the impact we create through community action.
